It’s time to do something with your dollars and cents.

This past year I started paying closer attention to my money. Where it was going, how much there was, and what I was spending on. I decided I wanted to take control of my financial future, as trite as that sounds. Podcasts were an easy way for me to begin to educate myself and stay up-to-date. For some of the podcasts, I will listen to episode topics that interest me. For others, I listen to all of them regardless of subject matter. It comes down to who you enjoy listening to and who has opinions you trust. This list is in no particular order. And I have no affiliation with any podcast.

Investalk

Investalk is hosted by Steve Peasley and Justin Klein, Wealth Managers at KPP Financial. The podcast is put out on weekday evenings and Justin and Steve rotate who is hosting. You don’t get any back and forth from the hosts and they have different opinions and topics they like to talk about. The show starts with the host giving a lecture focusing on a current event or financial topic, followed by listeners calling in live, or questions from a voicemail. The majority of the listener questions are buy/sell stock advice. The host will look quickly over the stock and give an opinion based on the data.
Frequency/Release: Weekday afternoon/evening
Ads: Yes but mainly for KPP Financial, they are very frequent
Length: Approximately 45 minutes

Jill on Money with Jill Schlesinger

Jill Schlesinger, a CFP and analyst answers listener questions, gives advice, interviews guests and goes over relevant economic/investment topics. Listeners cover the spectrum from very well off to “I’m 60 and never thought about retirement.” Easy to listen to and Jill will explain terms, meanings, and account types as she goes. On Saturday and Sunday Jill interviews a guest and splits it up over both days.
Frequency/Release: Daily (7 days a week, available early morning)
Ads: Yes
Length: Approximately 10 minutes

Animal Spirits

This is definitely my new favorite financial podcast. I recently started listening to this and really enjoy the chemistry that the hosts have. They have an effortless banter and repertoire than hosts of other financial podcasts. Michael and Ben, the hosts, use listener questions to talk and debate more about topics. They also cover what they are reading, watching, and podcasts they are listening to.
Frequency/Release: Weekly on Wednesdays. Sometimes more frequently
Ads: Yes
Length: Varies. Typically around 40 minutes. Though ranges from 20–50 mins.

Snacks Daily

I am hesitant to put this one on the list. I listen to it most mornings and find there to be an excessive amount of filler. I always skip the first few minutes to past the intro song and the hosts get into the companies of the day. I also tend not to listen to the last few minutes which is a recap and saying happy birthday to listeners. Basically, the two hosts will cover IPOs, earnings reports, interesting news, stock pops and crashes, etc. on 2–3 companies every day. They refer to themselves as being “easily digestible”
Frequency/Release: Weekdays
Ads: No
Length: 10–15 minutes — if you skip as much of the filler as I do its around 10 minutes.
